Michael D. Randell, M.D., P.C.

Dr. Michael Randell has the most experience in Atlanta managing women with uterine fibroids.  Regardless of the number or size of your fibroids, Dr. Randell is able to provide women with the management they desire (click here to read the top five reasons women choose Dr. Randell for minimally invasive fibroid surgery).  A hysterectomy is rarely necessary and large and multiple fibroids can often be removed via small abdominal incisions with preservation of the uterus (click here to see pictures of incision scars from actual patients of Dr. Randell).

Dr. Randell has performed over 3,000 minimally invasive surgeries without converting to an open operation.  Most patients are discharged from the hospital the same day of surgery or stay overnight.  He has performed more daVinci robotic myomectomies than any other gynecological surgeon in the world.  With his extensive experience, Dr. Randell has performed robotic assisted laparoscopic myomectomy surgery on women with up to 25 fibroids and on women with a uterine size up to that of a 24 week pregnancy.  He has never had to perform a hysterectomy at the time of a myomectomy.  He does not use mechanical morcellators and has innovated new techniques to remove fibroids safely.  Other doctors in Atlanta and from around the country refer their patients to Dr. Randell for fibroid surgery as well as other types of gynecologic surgery. Patients also travel from around the world to have surgery performed by Dr. Randell (click here to read patient testimonials).

As a practicing Obstetrician for more than two decades, Dr. Randell understands the proper surgical techniques required to remove fibroids and repair the uterus for future childbearing.  Many women who have had difficultly conceiving have become pregnant following the removal of their fibroids by Dr. Randell and have gone on to deliver healthy babies.

Dr. Randell is an instructor to other surgeons locally and across the country on robotic surgery.  He was recently invited to speak at the International Congress of Minimally Invasive Gynecology/Urology Symposium. The event featured experts from around the world. Dr. Randell lectured on robotic myomectomy techniques that he has perfected.  He also teaches at advanced robotic surgery courses.  In 2014, Dr Randell performed surgery in Poland and lectured in Germany.  In September, 2015 he taught in Portugal.  Keep up with Dr. Randell and our practice by visiting our Facebook page.

Fibroids
are very common.  They occur in 2 or 3 out of every 10 women over the age of 35.  They occur most often in women between the ages of 30 and 50, although some women in their 20s sometimes have them.  Fibroids can cause pain, abnormal bleeding, infertility, and other symptoms such as frequent urination, pressure, abdominal bloating and constipation (click here to read the top reasons to have surgery for uterine fibroids).

Although most women with fibroids can be treated with minimally invasive robotic surgery, some women with a very large uterus or with multiple fibroids may require open surgery.  The treatment that is best for any individual woman will depend on a variety of factors that Dr. Randell will discuss with you during an office consultation.
